Faith Rescue Mission facilitates many effective programs which serve as a
source of help to many needy people. Of course, our programs will bring a
great measure of assistance to those who apply themselves. However, there is
another kind of help without which all of the most effective programs in the
world are useless. The only help that will have a lasting impact is
that which comes from God.
Jesus said,
Mark 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world,
and lose his own soul?
That's why everything we do is
centrally focused on Him. Ultimately, it is only
God's help that can produce enduring change.
How to get it...
Everyone is fond of saying, “God helps those who help themselves.” Nothing
could be further from the truth. God helps those who realize they need his
help! The first step in obtaining help from God is to humbly admit that you
need it. The Bible
says that all have sinned. How can we whose sin has separated us from
God ever hope to approach Him? How can we be confident enough to come to
God for help when we don't know if He will accept us?
The answer is in the Bible:
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count
slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should
perish, but that all should come to repentance.
In our criminal justice system, we say that the one
convicted of a crime must “pay his debt” to society. Justice demands that
payment be made. In the case of our own “crimes” against God, the same is
true. But God loves us to the point that He is unwilling for us to endure
the unspeakable misery of eternity without Him. Instead, He sent His Son,
Jesus, to take upon Himself the punishment for our sins.
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth
his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Jesus completely satisfied God's
demand for justice by sacrificing Himself in our place.
But we
must be willing!
It
becomes a matter of faith.
Romans
10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto
righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made
unto salvation.
The payment has been made. The gift has been offered.
Anyone who puts his trust in Jesus as Savior receives
the forgiveness of sins provided for us by His death on
the cross and gains God's acceptance based, not on any
merit of his own, but on the merit of the sacrifice
Jesus made for us.
What
now...
Ask yourself one question: If today was my last day
on earth, do I have the confidence that I would be
accepted by God into heaven? If not, you can gain
that assurance now!
This is
what you must do:
-
Admit to yourself, and then to God that
you are a sinner and guilty before Him, undeserving
of His forgiveness.
-
Trust in Jesus as the One who has
purchased forgiveness for your sins with His own
blood.
-
Believe
God raised his Son Jesus from the dead.
You can
pray a prayer like this:
“Lord Jesus, I know I've sinned against You and
deserve the punishment of eternal separation from
You. I put my trust in you now as my Lord and my
Savior. I believe you gave your life at Calvary for
the remission of my sins, and rose from the dead on
the third day. Please forgive me and wash my heart
clean of my sins. Thank You for dying for me... Amen."
The
Bible says,
John 1:12
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to
become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his
name.
And again,
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave
his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.
If you
have just received Jesus into your life as your Lord and
Savior, or if you have any questions about what the
Bible says, we'd love to hear from you. Just send us an
